Features & Capabilities

Omada app enables configuring and managing Omada devices from a smartphone or tablet. You can change settings, monitor network status, and manage clients, with two modes: Standalone for small networks and Controller mode for centralized management via a software Omada Controller or hardware Cloud Controller. Access can be Local (same subnet) or Cloud (remote) for convenient control.

Compatibility notes: The controller mode currently supports hardware cloud controllers (OC200 V1, OC300 V1) and Omada Controller software v3.0.2+. Standalone Mode supports the listed models (EAP245, EAP225, EAP115, EAP110, EAP225-Outdoor, EAP110-Outdoor, EAP115-Wall, EAP225-Wall, ER706W, ER706W-4G). The latest firmware is required and can be downloaded from https://www.tp-link.com/omada_compatibility_list. More devices will be supported in future updates.

User Reviews

The Omada iOS app is praised for its ease of use, clear visibility, and strong mobile control of multi-site networks, with reviewers calling it functional and easier than many competitors for on-the-go management. However, several issues recur: instability with connections to the local controller, ‘incompatible organization’ errors blocking access, and missing advanced features (WLAN controls, VLAN, batch config, changing the primary WAN). Some users also report slow performance and concerns about location data. Overall, improvements have happened, but key enterprise-critical gaps remain for consistent mobile management.
Pros
  • Easy to use and user-friendly interface with clear visibility and quick access to common admin tasks.
  • Strong mobile SDN management across multiple sites; praised as better than competitors for on-the-go management.
  • Active improvements and updates that simplify managing remote-site networks.
  • Simple equipment setup and straightforward onboarding.
Cons
  • Unstable connections to the local controller, with frequent reconnects.
  • Incompatible organization errors blocking app access.
  • Missing advanced configuration features and WLAN controls (no VLAN support, can't change primary WAN, etc.).
  • Occasional slow performance when performing actions.
  • Privacy concerns about location data collection and loading requirements.

Whatever happened in the last update, I can no longer manage devices. I just get a spinning sprint image. The app is terribly slow.
