User Reviews

AR Ruler can be handy for quick, tape-free measurements and sharing data with professionals, especially for remodeling tasks. However, many users report serious billing problems (upfront/trial charges and high annual fees), poor long-range accuracy, occasional reliability issues (black screens), and intrusive ads. The value for casual users is questionable given the price and recurring costs, even though some users find it accurate and convenient for short distances.
Pros
  • Practical measurement utility for remodeling and everyday tasks (windows, curtains, furniture) using the iPhone.
  • Often accurate enough for shorter distances and close results.
  • Useful for sharing measurements with professionals (architects/engineers) as built data.
  • Takes time to learn but becomes easy to use after a short learning period.
  • Tape-free convenience that makes measuring tasks easier and quicker.
Cons
  • Aggressive subscription billing and upfront trial charges, including immediate charges and high annual costs.
  • High ongoing costs and perceived low value for casual users, especially given prior one-time pricing.
  • Inconsistent/poor accuracy at longer distances, with reports of large errors beyond short ranges (e.g., 10 ft or more).
  • Reliability issues and bugs, including black screen crashes and measurements failing to work correctly.
  • Ads and intrusive popups unrelated to measurement tasks, diminishing the user experience.

Signed up for a 3 day trial and was charged $14.99. Beware, this app attempts to scam you out of your money. Update: misleading response from the developer. I was charged immediately upon signing up for the trial, before the three day trial had expired. Don’t waste your money with these scam artists.

Nothing pisses me off more than the fact I never signed up for an annual plan for this app and yet still got charged $90. There’s nothing this app offers to even pay a single dollar for. Literally everything they offer comes with a free app for iPhone. I think about this constantly I basically just donated $90 to a scam. Don’t even download this app there’s no purpose to it when you can get their services for free.
