Features & Capabilities

Storyboard Animator lets you create storyboards by sketching, arranging panels, timing scenes, writing dialogue, and adding actions and SFX. Use the simple drawing interface or import images via drag-and-drop, then set timing and dialog for each panel. Play back your board as an animatic to preview the final flow. Timing can be as precise as a single frame for quick, realistic pre-visualization.

Export your project as a video, PDF, HTML, images, or text. Tap scene circles to adjust scene counts (swipe to decrement). Made for iPad, works on iPhone.

User Reviews

User feedback shows Storyboard Animator is easy and affordable with basic storyboard tools for quick iPad work. It provides notes, auto-numbered frames, and audio timing, which helps planning. However, it is plagued by crashes, unreliable exports, and various drawing/duplication bugs, plus a paywall that gates many features. Import and rotation limitations further constrain workflows. Overall useful for simple storyboarding but stability and monetization issues undermine long‑term use.
Pros
  • Easy to use and straightforward interface.
  • Simple, lightweight storyboard tool ideal for quick iPad work.
  • Affordable with a solid core feature set (basic drawing tools, auto-numbered frames, notes, and audio timing).
  • Notes area and text support on frames aid planning and scripting.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and stability issues across devices.
  • Export failures: exporting animatics or frames often crashes or drops frames, with limited codecs.
  • Paywall and premium gating block many features (e.g., slide limits) and frustrate smaller projects.
  • Bugs with drawing and duplication: lines not copying, panels disappearing, or random deletions.
  • Cannot import base images and no canvas rotation, limiting workflow.

Genuinely just use Ibis.

I’m only able to make two boards at about 15 page limit, but otherwise I enjoyed what I was able to use. Something I want to point out to the people who made this app is that I think you should change the name of the app, even if it’s something weird. This is because it makes it difficult to find any tutorials or reviews or anyone else who uses it through the internet. I think it can be good for business if it had a name that made it easier for people to find others who use it. I hope things go well for y’all.
