Roll for the Galaxy on iOS is a faithful, well-made port with a clean UI, solid learning curve, and strong AI for single-player. It delivers fast matches, online play, and a no-ads experience, but reliability issues (frequent crashes and multiplayer instability) and long-promised expansions remain major drawbacks. The base game is engaging and replayable, yet expansion delays and occasional device-size UI limitations temper the experience.

Pros

Faithful digital port with a clean, well-designed UI and helpful tutorials that make learning Roll for the Galaxy easier.
Strong AI with multiple difficulty levels and engaging single-player play, making it good for practice and quick sessions.
Fast load times and smooth performance on iPad, with generally solid online play when it’s functioning.
No ads or in-app purchases, providing a clean, pressured-free experience.
High replayability and deep strategy thanks to the dice mechanics and varied card/tile interactions.

Cons

Frequent crashes and instability across modes (mid-turn crashes, server errors, app closures).
Expansions and promo packs have not been released and are repeatedly promised but unavailable for years.
Pass-and-play and online multiplayer can be unreliable, with state resets and missing opponent scores in some sessions.
AI issues at high difficulties (suspected cheating or non-diverse strategies) and some AI behavior can feel unfair or unbalanced.
Not ideal on smaller devices or older iPhones (screen size/UI can be cramped for some users).

Recent reviews

They did a good job with the interface, along with a very good AI difficulties (from challenging, to easy). Performance is good too (iPad Air 1st gen, and 9th gen baseline). REALLY wish expansions (along their optional modules too really) could get implemented since they really round out the design space, replay ability, and fun factor.

A good port or an all time favorite. I typically play quick games against the AI and love this game.

This is a great strategy game, but it’s hard for me to recommend it since every time I start winning, the game crashes on me. (Playing on iPad mini A17 Pro - your results may vary.)
