Thuasne3D Scan is an app that works in conjunction with an iPhone or iPad and the Tech Med 3D software platform. Thuasne3D Scan is a complete solution for replacing casting and other measurement devices. Using your mobile device, you can scan the leg and choose the brace model and options for ordering a Townsend custom knee brace, KAFO or AFO. This increases efficiencies while decreasing turnaround times. The Thuasne3D Scan app, in conjunction with the TechMed 3D software, also allows you to take photos, denote anatomical landmarks on the image, and write comments and instructions. It integrates the image capture and ordering process, and bundles all of these elements into one electronic file you can email to Townsend.

When Townsend receives the file, Townsend uses proprietary processes to modify the image based on the patient information and brace options you select. The modified file is sent to a three axis mill to carve a positive model of the patient's limb that is used to fabricate the custom brace. For carbon fiber and composite braces, a vacuum lamination process is used. For aircraft aluminum braces, the metal parts are hand-contoured to intimately fit the leg model.
