User Reviews

Users praise Sewing Patterns for strong organization, flexible categories, photo attachment, and cross-device syncing, which helps manage large pattern libraries and plan fabric needs. The main drawbacks are the lengthy initial data entry, missing export/backup options, inconsistent category management, and occasional stability issues. Overall, it’s a powerful cataloging tool with room to improve input speed, data portability, and reliability.
Pros
  • Excellent organization with customizable categories/subcategories, plus the ability to attach photos and track pattern details (front/back, number, brand, size).
  • Strong shopping/fabric planning benefits: helps avoid duplicates and lets you reference patterns and fabric needs quickly.
  • Syncs across devices (iPhone and iPad), keeping your catalog accessible on the go.
  • Easy to use once set up; a robust feature set makes managing large pattern libraries practical.
Cons
  • Very time-consuming to input a large collection; initial cataloging can take a lot of effort.
  • Lacks export/backup options (CSV or external backup), making data portability and sharing difficult.
  • Category editing/management is inconsistent or limited; some reviews report no easy way to add/edit categories.
  • Occasional stability issues or bugs reported by some users (crashes or syncing problems).

I can’t thank you enough again for this app. I create folders called ideas, knit blouses, children’s, etc. I put sub categories below those. For my idea folder I put pictures of things I see that I want to make. I love how the app is so flexible and what it allows you to do. I tell all my friends about this app. I do have a question. If I load a picture from my phone into the app, can I delete the photo from my phone and will it still be in the app? This would be a great way to free up space on my phone! Also, do you have advice for making the picture smaller so it won’t take up as much room even in the app? THANKS!!

I have really enjoyed using this app. I use it when I’m shopping to avoid duplicate purchases or reference fabric type/amount. A problem I’m having is once I put in the information including pattern pictures I can’t at a later date update the information to include a picture of the fabric used. I will input the update but the new picture doesn’t show. I have tried on numerous occasions without success. Otherwise I really like this app. Very useful (although limited per above comment)

I have over 2000 sewing patterns and because that is too many to remember I sometimes bought duplicates. Now I am able to easily check before buying and quickly add a new purchase. It even helps with fabric shopping. If I see a fabric I love, I can quickly search for an appropriate pattern and purchase the correct amount of fabric. The only feature I wish was added was the ability to download a csv file of all my patterns as my friends and I share our patterns and can’t always look over each other’s shoulder to check if someone has a pattern we could use.
