User Reviews

DJM-REC is valued for direct mixer recording and usefulness with certain Pioneer gear, but reliability is inconsistent. Users report recordings that are sped up or slowed, garbled or distorted audio, and occasional mic fallback or mid-session drops. Issues are especially tied to iOS 26 compatibility and slow updates. While many still consider it essential when it works, the recurring bugs and device-specific problems make it risky for live gigs.
Pros
  • Records direct mixer output with compatible hardware (e.g., DJM-A9, DJM-900NXS2, CDJs) instead of relying on the phone mic.
  • Useful for recording, streaming, and uploading live DJ sets; considered a must-have by some users.
  • When it works, the app delivers solid, high-quality recordings and a smooth workflow.
  • Long-running tool used by DJs for years with many prior positive experiences.
Cons
  • Major recording issues: tempo/speed misalignment (recordings play back too fast or too slow) and warping across iOS versions.
  • Inconsistent behavior: sometimes records only the phone mic, stops recording after a short time, or fails entirely.
  • Compatibility problems with iOS 26 (and beta), with slow updates and unresolved bugs.
  • Intermittent dropouts and mid-recording disconnects, with garbled output.
  • Hardware conflicts: RMX Ignite and Multi I/O port sharing can prevent proper track listing when both are used.

Recorded a whole set and it’s completely slowed down. I fr wasted an hour of time on this. Can’t believe they charge people when there’s free ways to do it… just thought I’d try it and irs garbage

Yes there was some user error but I finally decided to try and use this to record a big set and when I closed my phone the app stopped recording. Ruined my perfect night

I never give app reviews but for this horrendous app I will. They charge you $10 for an app that could be vibe coded in 2 seconds to be better. On top of that, the app DOESN’T record audio properly if you have ios26. It will say it’s recording fine, and after you’re done DJing, the app obliterates the audio quality by changing the sample rate or something, so it sounds super pitched down and slower. Changing the sample rate does not fix the recording either. I’ve tried recording at least 5 different sets now and every time there is an issue with the app and my recording either stops early, or doesn’t record in proper quality.
