User Reviews

Users praise Unsplash for its vast, high-quality wallpaper library, strong inspiration for art and photography, and ad-free, free access. The Liquid Glass feature is a notable plus. However, multiple reviews cite stability problems (crashes), a buggy redesign that complicates downloading and navigation, and occasional image-loading issues. Feature accessibility changes (Unsplash+ adjustments) are also a common point of contention. Overall, content quality is strong, but usability issues detract from the experience.
Pros
  • Large collection of high-quality wallpapers that serve as inspiration for art and design.
  • Free to download, use, and edit with no ads.
  • Strong for inspiration across photography and design, including landscape and professional imagery.
  • Liquid Glass integration adds visually stunning effects.
  • Images are easy to locate and set as wallpapers, with organized/searchable collections.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability during zoom, swipe, or general use.
  • Buggy redesign that makes downloading and using the app harder, including a clunky new UI and removal of quick-access menus.
  • Images often fail to load or take longer to display, reducing reliability.
  • Downloading flow requires extra taps and lacks helpful feedback (no auto-close or missing haptic cues).
  • Some users dislike removal or reduced accessibility of Unsplash+ content/features.

Your app has a bug. When downloading certain images, the download sometimes fails and never completes. There’s also no way to cancel the download once it gets stuck, so the only workaround is to force-close the app and reopen it!

This app could be so much better than my user experience has led me to discover. Their emphasis on pure pixel density over composition, unique perspective, originality and connectivity to a theme severely limits what could be a quite interesting application. I found the long review process for posting of candidate photos to be off putting. The up front lack of definition on rules and recommendations for presenting new content and for curating existing content was frustrating. I also found the interface to be a bit glitchy and support for working around these issues was slow or nonexistent.
