Overview

Features & Capabilities

EnerTalk is a free mobile app that lets you monitor electricity usage and spending from your smartphone. It supports multiple properties and requires no hardware. See real-time usage, visualize daily and monthly patterns, and estimate bills to avoid surprises. Set goals and receive tips to save energy based on your usage.

How it works: connect EnerTalk to your utility provider account to pull data and display historic usage, patterns, and current summaries. Currently supports Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). Note: Solar Production reflects the net solar power sent to the grid at each data interval (solar production minus loads in real time). For support, contact support@encoredtech.com.

User Reviews

Users like the concept of EnerTalk for viewing energy data more accessibly, and some note potential usefulness if it works. However, multiple reviews report persistent PG&E integration failures, certificate and server errors (invalid cert, 502/501), data stop syncing for months, and little to no developer response. The app seems promising on paper but is widely considered unusable in its current state due to connectivity and support issues.
Pros
  • Nice concept; could be useful for viewing energy data.
  • Has potential to show real-time or solar usage data in a clearer way than provider bills.
  • Could be very useful once PG&E integration and connectivity issues are resolved.
Cons
  • PG&E integration consistently fails with connection errors and no data retrieval.
  • Certificate/server errors (invalid certificate, 502 Bad Gateway, 501) prevent login and use.
  • Data stopped updating for months with no fixes or responses from the developer.
  • Support is frequently unresponsive to user inquiries.
Recent reviews
As others have mentioned you can’t interface with PGE data to an expired certificate on the entertalk side. Without the developer fixing this it’s useless.
