Features & Capabilities

Filmlike Camera creates a nostalgic analog-film look for your photos with 28 filters across 7 filter sets, including the new Y set, plus light leaks and film grain effects. It offers two shooting modes—normal capture with adjustable filter intensity and an Auto Save mode with real-time filtering—and supports import from Camera Roll.

Edit and customize your photos with filter intensity, date/initials stamps, and multiple aspect ratios (3:4, 1:1, 2:3). Features like manual focus, manual exposure, self-timer, mirror mode, silent mode, favorite filters, and metadata preservation help you craft vintage-style images and share them on Instagram using #filmlike_me.

User Reviews

Filmlike Camera delivers a compelling film aesthetic with a broad set of filters and city collections, and its one-time price is attractive. It’s generally easy to use and practical for quick edits. However, recurring issues dampen its appeal: saving/exporting is inconsistent and tedious, the app crashes or glitches during use, image output often loses resolution or sharpness after edits, previews can be unreliable (especially while shooting), and recent UI changes have removed or buried key features.
Pros
  • Strong film-like filters and textures that deliver a cinematic look
  • One-time payment pricing offers good value (no subscription)
  • Generally easy to use for apply-and-edit workflows
  • City-based filter collections add substantial variety and appeal
Cons
  • Saving/exporting photos is clunky and unclear (no obvious save button; requires extra taps)
  • Stability issues: app crashes and glitches during use
  • Image quality/output resolution degrades after edits or updates (blurry or lower-res results)
  • Unreliable filter previews (inaccurate previews while adjusting sliders; no live preview while shooting)
  • Disruptive UI changes that remove or hide features or complicate workflows (difficulty editing existing photos, missing previous filters)

Well, I have to say I love everything about this app and all of the filters that offers with a one time payment, I do think it could use some user interface updates that would make it easier and more efficient when used. The real main problem is the fact that there is no save button once you found the filter you want to apply to your photo. You’re able to change the intensity of the film effect and filter, but once you do that and click the check button, all it does is save the settings that you chose and bring you back to the main filter tab that you were in. It takes a lot of random clicking on the bottom of the photo in order to have the image saved to camera roll. So while I love the artistic aspect of this app, I think the developer should go back and create an easier way to save the photos . For now, it is a major headache. If it weren’t for this, I would give it 5 stars

I think this is the best film camera app on the app store. I don’t usually write reviews but I’m doing so in hopes of getting attention from the developer 🥹 The app has been glitchy lately. The biggest issue is that it’s not giving an accurate “Film Effect” preview when you use the slider. I’m hoping it can be fixed soon!
