Features & Capabilities

This application requires licenses for Cisco Clarity and/or Cisco Umbrella.

Cisco Security Connector is a new endpoint security solution providing unprecedented visibility and protection for organization-owned iOS devices running in supervised mode. It brings the power of Cisco’s collective intelligence and investigative features to Apple's mobility space. It is not a global proxy or VPN. Organizations can deploy and manage the Connector using Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) so no user interaction is needed on the iPhone or iPad.

Ideal for numerous industries and uses, including education, healthcare, distribution centers, field service, and retail.

Optimized for use with Cisco Meraki Systems Manager.

User Reviews

Users view Cisco Security Connector as an enterprise tool that integrates with Cisco AMP for Endpoints and Umbrella via MDM. Some deployments run solid after initial bugs are fixed, but ongoing reliability concerns dominate: heavy battery drain, connectivity instability, random reboots, and regressions after updates. The product is not consumer-friendly, requiring enterprise subscriptions and MDM, with OpenDNS limitations without such management. A few users report solid performance when properly configured, but overall reliability remains a common issue.
Pros
  • Enterprise-focused design that integrates with Cisco AMP for Endpoints and Umbrella and relies on an MDM for deployment (e.g., Meraki System Device Manager).
  • In enterprise use, some users report solid performance once initial bugs are resolved.
  • Clear alignment with Cisco security stack, providing a defined path for organizations using paid subscriptions.
Cons
  • Excessive battery drain and device overheating, including heat during charging and overall power consumption.
  • Frequent connectivity issues and loss of internet access, especially with cellular/Wi‑Fi switching, causing interruptions.
  • Random reboots and overall instability on devices, sometimes linked to updates or umbrella policies.
  • Enterprise-only with required paid subscriptions (AMP/Umbrella) and MDM; not suitable for consumers and may involve upsells (OpenDNS limitations).
  • Update/regression issues where problems reappear after new versions.

Does not work well with multiple esims and international travel. App needs to be updated to keep up with new ios versions.

This app has connectivity issues across our organization in which every few months we seem to have to remove it from all of our phones because staff complain that loosing internet and that they have to reboot their phone to fix it. This issue was fixed several months ago but has now reappeared again in a recent update, causing us to once again remove it from all corporate iOS devices.

This application cannot handle 26 different IP’s being negotiated by a cell phone while driving around within five minutes. It freaks out when switching between 5G, 5G+, 4G, and other services. Makes your phone run slow and sluggish apps cannot work properly that I’ve already been vetted by Apple and the App Store. I mean, PayPal app can’t work because Cisco hinders it because it can’t negotiate a proper connection between cell services!!! It just hinders things from working because he can’t handle IP changes while driving, walk and moving around. iPhones are not computers that sit in one place for a long period of time it constantly switches between cellular, Wi-Fi, and cellular over Wi-Fi services. Which this app also has issues realizing what connection your using. I’m going to file a class action lawsuit for the loss of performance it places on iPhones that Cisco has over sold and promised corporations as a valuable tool when in reality it’s junk, wastes power, hinders proper operation and more.
