Features & Capabilities

Flow feels like paper but works like magic. Take notes, sketch, journal and plan in one app. With Apple Pencil, writing and drawing are incredibly responsive, and you can even collaborate on documents with friends and colleagues.

Flow stores securely across devices with real-time cloud sync, lets you export images and timelapse videos, organize documents with notebook covers, and multitask on iPad with Split View. A free trial is available, with subscriptions for ongoing updates and storage.

User Reviews

User reviews focus on a subscription-driven model that blocks basic use and data export behind paywalls, with many calling the free version effectively unusable. There are a few positive notes about Flow’s feature richness and UI, and some appreciation for ongoing updates. The dominant pain points are pricing, account creation friction, and data portability, with occasional bugs affecting usability.
Pros
  • Rich feature set with Flow 4 improvements
  • Beautiful UI/UX design and polished interface
  • Positive sentiment about note-taking and brainstorming capabilities
Cons
  • Free-to-download but requires a paid subscription or account to use, seen as misleading
  • Inability to export or move existing notes without paying; data portability locked behind paywall
  • Preference for a one-time purchase; pricing model criticized
  • Mandatory sign-up/onboarding friction before use
  • Occasional bugs and performance issues (strokes disappearing, rendering glitches)

I like your app, but the GUI freezes randomly and the full screen implementation is frustrating because it actually does not turn off the icons/buttons across the top as you’re writing and drawing. In terms of design and layout, it’s a breath of fresh air aesthetically in a very crowded space, truly unique. However, I will have to unsubscribe and remove from my device today after a month of use due to the issues mentioned above.
