User Reviews

Tropico on iOS delivers deep, immersive management gameplay and solid portability with offline play and strong replay value. However, it suffers from input limitations (touch-only; no controller support), recurring progression bugs in scenarios, occasional lag and crashes, and requests for more content and longer sandbox options. Addressing stability, input options, and ongoing content would better satisfy long-term players while preserving the game's strengths.
Pros
  • Immersive, detailed management gameplay with extensive in-game information about citizens, politics, and economy.
  • Excellent mobile port with smooth performance on iPhone/iPad.
  • Offline play: you don’t need an internet connection to enjoy Tropico.
  • High replayability and long-term engagement across multiple scenarios.
  • Rich variety of scenarios/campaigns to explore.
Cons
  • Touch controls only; no controller/gamepad support (requests for controller compatibility).
  • Progression bugs in key scenarios (events not triggering, blocking mission completion).
  • Performance issues and crashes (lag, stability problems, autosave crashes).
  • Sandbox mode is time-limited (50-year cap); desire for unlimited or extended sandbox options.
  • Desire for more content and regular updates/new packs.

No excuse for so many bugs. Locks out the scenarios.

I’ve played Tropico 4 & 6. I absolutely loved them and had a blast with both of them. My PC recently broke down and I haven’t had the money to repair it. But I was feining for Tropico tropico so desperately bought this one and what a game. From what I’ve seen it’s a port from Tropico 3 but it has plenty of content for a mobile Tropico and it’s amazing. I’ve had no bugs in campaign nor sandbox. It does load it a little slower once you reach the time limit and keep playing but besides that, 0 issues. Great game for experienced tropico players and new ones! The tutorial and first campaign missions are a great way to learn!! $13 is quite pricey for a mobile game but I’ve most definitely spent more than 30 hours on this game so it was well worth my money.

Love this game, I’ve been playing for a long time and it’s easily one of my favorite city builders on mobile. One thing that could make it even better would be adding more advanced difficulty options, such as higher crime rates and increased standards of living, to really challenge experienced players. Another idea that could be fun is an optional “sandbox” with unlimited money, while still keeping key mechanics active (like rebel attacks, unrest, and consequences). That way players can experiment and build creatively without removing all challenge. Overall though, amazing game these additions could really take it to the next level for long term players.
