User Reviews

URC Mobile 2.0 shows strong core control and reliability when professionally installed, with praise for the 2.0 software. However, widespread usability and stability issues persist: a clunky, non-intuitive UI (especially on iPad), finicky volume controls, crashes and connectivity drops, and dependence on dealers for maintenance and updates. These recurring themes outweigh the positives for many users, making it a solid system in capable hands but a frustrating experience for many without professional setup.
Pros
  • Stable and reliable long-term performance when installed by a skilled integrator (no reboots or service calls for 1–2 years).
  • New 2.0 software is gorgeous, with flexible, best-in-class hardware control praised by pros.
  • The overall system is excellent and a solid choice when properly implemented by professionals.
Cons
  • Clunky, dated, and non-intuitive user interface with poor iPad/native support and limited end-user customization.
  • Volume controls are finicky and poorly implemented (no smooth slide bar; hardware and on-screen buttons are awkward).
  • App stability issues: crashes, inconsistent loading, and WiFi/connectivity drops requiring reboot or reinstall.
  • Dealer/installer dependency for updates and maintenance, with limited user access and potential extra costs to keep the system current.
  • Lack of true iPad-native experience and small UI elements (e.g., tiny buttons, small fonts on newer devices) hamper usability.

This is the worst APP I have on my phone. Often times “not responding” or having to reboot or delete and re-install. I wish I never had URC installed in my house but after $20K of technology, I’m stuck with it.

As a pro installer of TotalControl, I see a lot of reviews that are mainly about how poorly the app controls their system. The app is a result of how your programmer designed your system. “clunky” or “unreliable’ is not how the system is supposed to work, and that is something to be brought up with your integrator, not the App Store. We added a new AV system for our home and this app is the operating system associated with the system. The app is horrible. It’s inconsistently loads. The interface/experience is sub par. It constantly drops or WiFi. Overall highly disappointed and think any other option would be better than URC. Purchase and use an alternate app and digital system.
