User Reviews

Users praise the Washington Times app for strong content and trustworthy reporting, but repeatedly report crashes, red screens, intrusive pop-ups, and notification prompts that disrupt reading. Loading failures and navigation clutter from ads are common, leading to frustration and potential subscription churn. The core content is valued, but the app's instability and UX issues drive negative sentiment.
Pros
  • Content quality is strong: well-written, thoughtful, and insightful.
  • Trusted, balanced, and unbiased news source.
  • Long-time subscribers value the reliable coverage.
  • The publication provides valuable news content that readers rely on.
Cons
  • Frequent red-screen crashes and freezes render the app unusable.
  • Intrusive video pop-ups/ads obstruct reading.
  • Persistent push-notification prompts and subscription requests annoy users.
  • App often fails to load/open articles, requiring restarts.
  • Excessive ads even for paid subscribers degrade the reading experience.

Used to be a nice app. Now you can't get through most articles without random jump to full screen popup ads. Advertisers are getting ripped off as well since jumps to popups happen when user does NOT intentionally click on ad area on screen. Terrible app. DELETED it.

I like WT, but the popup on every article is infuriating. When you tap a story to read it, there’s a video popup at the bottom of the screen that shows up every single time. Who would design this? You can either scroll with the annoying video taking up a quarter of the screen or close it a thousand times. It makes the app nearly unusable.
