Polymer: OctoPrint 3D Printing

3D Printing Made Simple

Features & Capabilities

Formerly known as OctoClient for OctoPrint, Polymer is the simplest way to manage a 3D printer from your mobile device. It works with any OctoPrint-enabled printer and starts and monitors prints from anywhere, all wrapped in a beautiful, intuitive iOS design.

Key features include live camera streaming, real-time status and temperature monitoring, and an iPad-only GCODE view. You can also control your printer with start/stop/pause, home axes, set temps, extrude/retract, adjust fans, and manage files and folders. Polymer supports multiple printers, allows custom GCODE commands, and offers secure remote access via OctoEverywhere.

User Reviews

Polymer is praised for its native iOS design, ease of use, and solid OctoPrint integration. It’s reliable and well-supported, but users note feature gaps against competitors, occasional connectivity issues, and questions about ongoing maintenance. Overall, it’s highly regarded and feature-rich, with requests for more notifications and iOS-specific features.
Pros
  • Beautiful, native iOS UI that’s easy to use and responsive.
  • Very reliable connection to OctoPrint in most setups.
  • Widely regarded as the best OctoPrint iOS app; enhances the printing experience.
  • Active, responsive development with user feedback in mind.
  • Lightweight yet feature-rich for quick monitoring and management.
Cons
  • Missing push notifications and Live Activities / PiP support; feature gaps compared with OctoPod (e.g., WebRTC streaming, DisplayLayerProgress).
  • Occasional reliability or connectivity issues in some setups (e.g., authentication problems or webcam not loading).
  • Perceived limited value over the OctoPrint web UI; some reviewers question the app’s added value.
  • Maintenance/active development status can be unclear, with mixed signals about ongoing updates.

I’ve tried a lot of octoprint apps and this is my favorite by far. Very easy to use and clearly takes advantage of ios design norms, probably implemented in swift.

Quite awesome and fully featured. My most used app.

I love this app’s design and simplicity, but its feature set is really lagging behind the free and open-source OctoPod app and plugin. If I could wave my hand and have Polymer support WebRTC streaming (“new stack”), DisplayLayerProgress, Cancel Objects, iOS Live Activities, and push notifications, to name a few, I’d certainly use it over the OctoPod app, which I simply don’t find to be as “nice.” Any of these on the roadmap?
