Official mobile app to conveniently use the Smart EX online reservation service for the Tokaido, Sanyo, and Kyushu Shinkansen. With Shinkansen smartEX App you can reserve seats, enjoy early booking discounts, and book up to one year in advance. You can make changes or refunds free of charge before boarding, and you can bundle seat reservations with hotels, activities, and car rentals. The app supports seat map selection for reserved seats, provides station and train service information, and supports quick login via fingerprint on compatible devices.

Key features include membership registration, ticket purchase and seat reservations, confirmation, changes and refunds (reducing guests), viewing purchase history and receipts, and updating member information. The app displays a QR ticket for boarding and lets you designate or register IC cards for boarding. Service status information is accessible as well. Notes: membership is required, payment is charged to the registered credit card, and IC cards listed enable ticketless travel. The service is English-only.
