User Reviews

Reviewers praise CrazyStone DeepLearning for its strong Go AI and beginner-friendly features, including hint mode and mid-game territory visibility. The app offers flexible play with multiple board sizes and AI-versus-AI options, making it good for learning and passing time. However, the free version is heavily ad-supported with long, unskippable ads that disrupt play, and landscape rotation support is lacking. Overall, it’s among the best Go apps, but ad experience and lack of landscape support detract.
Pros
  • Strong Go AI across multiple difficulty levels; widely praised as among the best Go apps.
  • Excellent for beginners: helpful hint mode and mid-game territory display to learn strategy.
  • Flexible play options: multiple board sizes and ability to have AI vs AI or human play.
  • Helpful for focus and learning: can use to stay focused during waiting times and teach others the game.
Cons
  • Intrusive, long ads in the free version; unskippable and after nearly every game.
  • Ads disrupt gameplay; sometimes the close button is hard to reach or outside screen.
  • Free version heavily ad-supported; many reviewers would pay to remove ads.
  • Lack of landscape rotation support for iPad/iPhone; no landscape mode currently.

I played one game, and was unable to close out of the ad even after it was finished (which took several minutes). I deleted the app, reinstalled it, and the same thing happened. I deleted the app and reinstalled it again and subscribed before I played a game and now the app is actually usable. However, that setup feels scammy. I’m wondering if the Pro version of this app that hasn’t been updated in four years is worth getting for $16.99 instead
