User Reviews
Pros
- Accurate readings using math from frame-by-frame video analysis, comparable to expensive radar guns.
- Easy to use with a clean, well-thought-out design.
- Frame-by-frame capability helps pinpoint release point and when the ball crosses the plate.
- Cost-effective alternative to expensive radar guns; works from smartphone video.
- Strong customer support with quick responses from the developer.
Cons
- Does not adequately account for release point and pitching distance, causing speeds to be over- or under-estimated.
- Lack of manual/mound distance options; missing custom pitching distances (e.g., 43 ft, 40 ft, 35 ft) for different leagues.
- Missing export/save features for video and metadata (exporting video with speed graphic; saving video).
- Some users report the app doesn’t work or is not worth the price.

I don’t review apps, but I felt inclined to respond to the rash of one star ratings of this app based on not using it correctly. This app is a great option to buying an overly expensive speed gun (which aren’t accurate either unless you know how to use one). That said, it will over rate the speed if you don’t choose the exact release point and crossing home plate point as the developer states in the instructions. This app is not a tap tap stop watch. I would also add filming 90° to the mound/plate (and filing at 240fps as recommended) so you can choose the exact position of the ball leaving the hand (or mound if the pitcher’s release point still needs work ;). The developer brilliantly incorporated the mathematics behind calculating speed over a very specific distance using slo-mo video. Great job!

As others have said, it doesn’t consider release point/ assumed pitcher releases from the mound. As a result speeds are 9-10% less than this tells you. They should spend a small bit of energy helping adjust for that.
But, if you just use this and adjust down by about 10%, you’ll get a pretty decent number.
