User Reviews

The NFC TagWriter app on iOS shows mixed reliability. While some users can quickly encode URLs, contact cards, and Wi‑Fi credentials (and a few report success with implants), the app is plagued by crashes, URI/URL writing bugs, and data integrity problems. Tag support is incomplete, with certain tags not writable or readable. UX is lacking and some reviews suggest the project is abandoned. Overall, the app is unreliable for consistent use and in need of updates.
Pros
  • When it works, the app can encode URLs/websites, contact cards, and Wi‑Fi credentials quickly.
  • The app is free to use.
  • Some reviewers report successful use with implants and fast tagging results.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability on iOS across multiple reviews.
  • URI/URL writing is buggy, with misformatted tags, missing https, and confusing workflow.
  • Read/write data integrity is faulty, with saved data showing garbage or extra characters and tags not being readable.
  • Tag compatibility issues prevent writing to certain tag types (eg, ICODE SLIX) and can cause unreadable results.
  • UX issues and vague errors; some reviewers feel the app is abandoned and lacks clear guidance.

The process for writing a correct URI tag is so broken and buggy. eg, typing http:// wil crash the app. however, writing a tag without it is not correctly formatted, so ios will not detect them. You must type the host portion then scroll to the beginning and at the protocol. it is horrible

I keep trying to write a common URI to a URL like https://google.com, but the app keeps reverting to Custom URL for the URI, leaving out the crucial https:// protocol when writing to a tag.

When you try to write a url it is buggy and needs you to type in url data before picking URI type otherwise you cannot continue. But the second bug to that is that it does not write the url header. And if you try to manually type in a URI when you type in a second slash the program crashes
