Features & Capabilities

Moon Surfing invites you to grab a solar board and ride the Moon’s dusty hills and steep craters. You can roam freely, perhaps pulling kickflips, or head straight to marked waypoints. All the game’s 5,184 areas are procedurally generated. Early landscapes recall NASA’s Apollo program, while the far side reveals ethereal terrains that challenge even seasoned players.

An online server tracks progress for all players, showing which areas have been conquered and when. Everyone shares this adventure together, with randomly generated, anonymous IDs per device to protect your privacy while you explore.

User Reviews

Moon Surfing is praised for its fun, engaging vibe and free-to-play/offline accessibility, with strong sentiment about its long-lasting appeal. However, recurring issues include ads, timer restrictions that limit free roam, control difficulties, monetization paywalls, and a desire for more content and ride options. Addressing these could enhance the overall experience while preserving the core charm of the moon-surfing concept.
Pros
  • Fun and engaging gameplay with a strong positive vibe seen across multiple reviews
  • Free-to-play and playable offline (airplane mode) as noted by users
  • Long-lasting appeal with ongoing enjoyment across versions (still great since earlier releases)
Cons
  • Ads are a frequent complaint, with multiple reviewers calling for fewer ads or a better balance
  • Timer-based mechanics restricting movement; requests for a no-timer/free-roam mode
  • Controls are described as hard or not intuitive, suggesting a need for a better control system
  • Monetization/paywall concerns, including unlocking content and buying the full game instead of per-level
  • Requests for more content/ride variety and tricks (e.g., moon buggy, starship, hovercraft; more tricks)
