Features & Capabilities

Fingercharts is the most complete, easy-to-use flute fingering app. It provides free fingerings for all four octaves, trill fingerings, and a swipe-based finder that makes it quick to locate any fingering. Suitable for beginners learning notes and trills, and for advanced players exploring high-register fingerings.

Upgrade to Fingercharts Pro to unlock real-sounding playback with studio recordings (not MIDI), alternate fingerings to improve intonation, and a practice list to save and review fingerings in one place. Our mission is to offer the core fingerings for free while continuously expanding features based on user feedback.

User Reviews

Fingercharts is a highly useful flute fingering reference praised for its comprehensive fingerings and easy swipe interface, especially by beginners. However, users repeatedly report stability issues—crashes, launch failures, and OS-compatibility problems—along with occasional non-working premium features and lack of responsive support. When stable, it’s an excellent practice aid with audible fingering, but reliability must be improved for consistent everyday use.
Pros
  • Comprehensive flute fingering charts for many notes, serving as a strong reference and memory aid for beginners and intermediates.
  • Easy-to-use interface with intuitive swipe navigation for quick access to fingerings.
  • Helpful learning tool that supports practice and memory for beginners/intermediate players; many users rely on it.
  • Audio playback of notes (premium feature) to hear how they should sound, aiding accuracy.
  • No ads in the free/basic version, making it accessible to non-premium users.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability during use (trill fingering, note scrolling, tapping) across iOS devices.
  • App sometimes won’t open or closes immediately after launch, hindering use.
  • Compatibility issues with modern iOS versions; updates are needed to fix crashes and instability.
  • Premium audio features sometimes do not work after purchase, with limited reliable support to resolve issues.

App crashes when you select trill and swipe right. It previously worked very well but does not anymore.

It seems that the app force closes itself if I scroll past C sharp third octave. Nothing I do seems to fix it. Update: it is also crashing every time I try to slide the bar to select the trill notes. It is extremely frustrating and I’m about to uninstall, even though I paid for it.
