Users praise USMLE-Rx for its comprehensive, integrated study resources and strong mobile access with regularly updated bricks and helpful video explanations. However, recurring sign-in problems, frequent glitches and reliability issues, platform/UX limitations (notably no Mac app and iPad layout changes), and missing annotation/notes features (incl. Apple Pencil support) hinder a consistently smooth experience.

Pros

All-in-one, integrated study resources including bricks, videos, flashcards, and USMLE-style questions.
Bricks and related content are frequently updated and high quality, with strong alignment to First Aid.
Strong video explanations and First Aid synergy; videos available for many pages and useful flash facts.
Excellent mobile accessibility that supports studying on the go (phone access to Q-banks and Step One content).

Cons

Persistent sign-in/login issues across devices, including 360 account incompatibilities.
Frequent glitches, crashes, and reliability problems (test resets, search errors, and UI issues like the pause button not working on iPad).
Platform/UX gaps: no Mac app and inconsistent iPad/desktop experience due to layout changes.
Missing annotation/notes feature and limited Apple Pencil support for highlighting/notes in bricks.

Recent reviews

My biggest complaint is that there is no dark mode for the app when the website’s Bricks can be in dark mode. Otherwise, USMLE is an amazing resource for medical school. My school pays for it, so I get access for Step 1.
