User Reviews

Card Talk is praised for ease of setup, free access, and strong customization that helps non-verbal users communicate. Positive notes include language options and the ability to add custom cards with photos. Recurrent drawbacks across reviews are sound playback problems, lack of cross-device syncing without login, limited card deck capacity with organization challenges, and UI/accessibility issues such as non-optimized iPhone layout and small cards.
Pros
  • Easy to set up and use.
  • Highly customizable with user-created cards and decks (including photos).
  • Free to use.
  • Helps non-verbal/autistic individuals communicate effectively.
  • Language options and text-to-speech capabilities.
Cons
  • Sound/voice playback is unreliable or missing on many cards; users report no sound or playback issues.
  • No easy cross-device deck save or sync without login; reprogramming across devices is required.
  • Card deck size is limited and organizing custom cards is difficult (limits and lack of categorization/sorting).
  • User interface and accessibility issues (not optimized for iPhone, small flash cards, high touch sensitivity).
  • Some features (e.g., voice playback for custom cards) do not work consistently on certain devices.

The app is easy to set up and easy to use. My son got the hang of it very quickly and is making communication with him so much easier. The only thing I would say to the developer is if you could save card decks and the ability to have multiple saved ones, that would save so much time for parents/caregivers. That would make it 5 stars in my book.

Been trying to find apps to help my daughter. She has had a long hard journey with autism. This is similar to many tools being used to communicate with nonverbal autistic children and it’s absolutely awesome. She loves the cards and with time hopefully she can use it to express what she’s feeling or her needs.
