Features & Capabilities

Audyssey MultEQ Editor app provides deep, hardware-specific tuning for compatible Denon and Marantz receivers. Go beyond basic setup to view speaker detection results, compare calibration before and after, and tailor sound with per-channel target curves and adjustable EQ rolloff.

Save and load calibration data, switch between high-frequency rolloff curves, enable midrange compensation, and support multiple languages. Before you buy, verify that your Denon or Marantz model is on the compatibility list.

User Reviews

Audyssey MultEQ Editor app is powerful and can noticeably improve sound balance and tuning versus the receiver alone, justifying the $20 price for many users. However, it suffers from reliability and connectivity issues (communication errors, unreliable calibration), subwoofer/bass bugs, and a dated UI, plus feature limitations and file-management frustrations. Overall, it’s valuable for some setups but inconsistent and problematic for others.
Pros
  • Provides enhanced control and customization over Audyssey calibration (curves, distances, midrange adjustments) beyond the AVR's built‑in options.
  • Users report a noticeable improvement in sound balance and clarity after using the app.
  • Considered worth the price (~$20) for the added capabilities and tuning options.
  • Helps achieve more precise speaker/subwoofer balance and room tuning than using the receiver alone.
  • Useful for refining calibration for music and home theater, despite a Spartan UI.
Cons
  • Calibration is unreliable due to frequent communication errors and loss of progress during calibration.
  • Subwoofer issues and bass roll‑off bugs are cited repeatedly.
  • Poor or outdated UI/UX and a difficult learning curve; not user-friendly.
  • Connectivity and detection problems, including failure to auto-detect the AVR and the need for manual IP setup.
  • Price/feature complaints, including perceived overpricing and removal of file-transfer features (loss of saved files, sending/receiving files) and related frustrations.

Thanks to the developers of this great app! The sound on my denon x4800 receiver has become much better.

Need to make it much much easier to adjust the curve editor. Very hard to add precise points and modify points with a touch screen on an iPhone. It would be much easier to enter precise values into a field than trying to drag a point into exact spot and then having to drag it into the exact spot again for each speaker. There should also be an option to replicate changes across each speaker. I have spent hours trying to manually edit the curve editor and a simpler UX with edit boxes could have reduced it to minutes. The poor UX overshadows a potentially great app!
