Features & Capabilities

GLICODE turns a packet of Pocky into bite-sized coding lessons. By arranging the snacks in sequence, learners explore three core coding fundamentals—sequences, loops, and if statements—through a playful journey with HUG HUG the mascot as he navigates an imaginary world to spread happiness. The app blends hands-on snack-based activities with simple, visual coding concepts for kids and classrooms.

What to expect: line up snacks, capture the sequence with your phone, run it to watch the mascot move, and progress through levels. The experience is free and educational, designed for school and home learning, with safety reminders and hygiene tips.

User Reviews

Overall, reviewers like the concept and educational angle of using Pocky to code and find the idea cute and engaging. However, the app is hampered by a finicky camera/scanner, a reliance on real Pocky that some find impractical, and rigid photo/background requirements. Users also want a manual input option and a smoother, more user-friendly UI. The concept is strong, but reliability and usability issues significantly limit enjoyment.
Pros
  • Cute concept of using Pocky as code with a playful, charming theme.
  • Educational value: perceived to make learning to code easier and more approachable for learners.
  • Overall appealing and fun idea that resonates with fans of coding games.
Cons
  • Unreliable camera/scanner that often misreads lines, captures the wrong code, and is laggy.
  • Requires using real Pocky and, in some reviews, pushing to buy more product, which users find impractical.
  • Needs a white background and good lighting; users report difficulty taking proper photos and consistent recognition.
  • Clunky, hard-to-use interface and camera-based input; many want manual code entry as an alternative.
  • For more complex levels the scanner outputs incorrect results or randomness, discouraging continued play.

It kept capturing other lines too and glitches a lot.

Every time I scan the pocky it scan the other lines and doesn’t scan the pocky and why do you have to use pocky

The idea for this app is cool in my opinion, i used to love coding games when i was younger. but the way it is presented is clanky and hard to use…the camera mode is the main issue, it is very laggy and barely outlines the actual pocky stick and picks up every other line in the camera area.
