Features & Capabilities

ChartBuilder lets you endlessly customize each chart to fit your worship needs. Change the key, capo, chord display, and layout with filters, and annotate any section before saving or recalling your charts. It supports all 12 keys and offers multiple chart types (Chords & Lyrics, Lyrics, Song Map) with condensed or full section styles, plus flexible chord display options.

Collaborate with your team by accessing the catalog via the ChartBuilder Content Subscription, creating and sharing setlists across Playback, ChartBuilder, and the website. RehearsalMix integration lets the chart auto-scroll with audio, while Bluetooth control and cloud charts enable on-the-go rehearsals. Optional MD Notes and Song Map enhance worship planning with tiered subscriptions and trial periods.

User Reviews

Users praise ChartBuilder as a powerful practice and rehearsal tool with real-time setlist syncing, ability to customize keys/chords, and a strong library across languages. However, most mentions highlight reliability problems: frequent bugs, slow or failing sync, long load times, and annoying navigation/annotation issues. Annotations often disappear or fail to load; scrolling and UI can be awkward, particularly under live play. Billing problems—paying for a subscription yet sometimes unable to view chords—also crop up. Despite the flaws, when it works, it’s highly valued by worship teams for practice and Sunday workflow.
Pros
  • RehearsalMix audio and auto-scrolling charts are amazing for practice and rehearsal
  • Real-time setlist syncing with automatic chart updates and key changes
  • Flexible editing: modify keys, chords, and tunings across songs
  • Large song library with multilingual support helpful for diverse worship teams
  • When functioning properly, ChartBuilder is indispensable for worship teams
Cons
  • Frequent bugs and reliability issues: lag, crashes, and slow/failed sync
  • Annotations feature is buggy: notes disappear, don’t reappear, load failures during Sundays
  • Performance problems: long library load times and slow/unstable syncing
  • Navigation/scrolling/friction: awkward scrolling, small pause hitbox, tough live editing
  • Subscription/payment issues: paying users unable to view chords or access content, plus cross-device parity concerns

It would be great if the text notations supported U+1D100 - U+1D1FF (music symbols) and a bonus would be U+1680 - U+169F (ogham ᚋᚌᚍᚎᚐᚑᚒᚓᚕᚁᚂᚃᚄᚆᚇᚈᚊᚖᚚ᚛᚜). Being able to note these would help immensely. While editing notations, many of these are supported, especially ogham. However, when you are done editing, they turn into boxes. Appreciate the app!

When I first got this app, I was a little worried, this is because we had very limited resources as a new church; however, as a guitarist and worship leader, I was aware we needed tools to help give are musicians the best experience possible to be able to focus on God during the worship service but still play with excellence; ChartBuilder was the answer: ChartBuilder has every song I have looked for, it has many languages and is very adaptive, with it syncing in real time with the setlist we can change keys and it auto updates on the chart, if we ever need to play a new song because the pastor or prayer team requested it ChartBuilder has the charts and ability to adapt. Whether you are a church that has all the songs ahead of time or one always changing throughout the service ChartBuilder has everything.
