User Reviews

Learn C++ Programming on iOS is praised for its beginner-friendly basics and helpful syntax explanations, with several reviewers calling it a solid educational app. However, it is marred by recurring crashes, input/quote handling bugs, and a paywalled content model that frustrates some users. Additional criticism centers on insufficient explanations in certain lessons. The app shows real educational potential when it runs smoothly and is used alongside other learning tools.
Pros
  • Clear, beginner‑friendly explanations of C++ basics and syntax.
  • Helpful for learning C++ syntax and concepts.
  • Regarded by multiple reviewers as a solid educational app.
  • Useful as a supplementary training tool when used with other resources.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and stability issues when navigating or running lessons.
  • Input and quotes handling bugs, including smart quotes/unicode issues causing strings to be rejected.
  • Content beyond the basics is paywalled, which some users feel is upfront but others find necessary.
  • Insufficient explanations and inconsistent guidance within lessons.

Generally a great learning tool. My only suggestion would be that if a valid C++ statement is entered in the exercises/challenges the response should be something like 'correct syntax but not what we're looking for'.

Everything beyond the basics chapter is paid content. Also, people are reporting problems with quotes. The problem is that by default, hitting the quote button writes smart quotes “”, but C++ only accepts true quotes "", which can by typed by holding down the button. This is a simple oversight that they should’ve told you before you started coding
