The game is one of a series of mobile apps designed to introduce te Reo Māori words and phrases to pre-schoolers in a fun and playful way.

A fun matching pairs game that introduces pre-schoolers to te Reo Māori words and phrases on a Christmas theme.

The game is part of a series of mobile apps designed to introduce te Reo Māori words and phrases to pre-schoolers in a fun and playful way. The rest of the series will include puzzles about shopping, being ‘on the road,’ and packing for Kōhanga reo. The aim is to bring the sound and meaning of te Reo Māori into everyday classroom and home activities.

The series is funded by Te Māngai Pāho, the Government Māori language agency operating in the broadcast sector. Te Māngai Pāho's purpose is to promote Māori language and Māori culture. This initiative forms part of a strategy to explore opportunities offered by new media to reach diverse audiences.

This first release draws on an iconic New Zealand character, Slinky Malinki, and a much loved Christmas title "Slinky Malinki's Christmas Crackers" by Lynley Dodd. It is produced with the generous support of Penguin Random House New Zealand.
