Features & Capabilities

A Magical High School Girl is an isometric, grid-based, turn-based roguelike RPG where you design spells by naming them. Your chosen name determines a spell’s kind—its elements, power, and effects—as you explore, level up, and fuse magicite to craft new powers. The game reimagines HP, XP, levels, UI, and more to fit its magical theme, making it accessible for casual players while offering depth for roguelike veterans.

Today, I just downloaded this! Update why do we have to restart a chapter if we die? Oh well. Also, why is the last level on chap. 2 so hard? I can’t finish it.

If you like strategic dungeon crawls and magical girls / witches, you’ll enjoy this one. The controls were intuitive and made exploring and combat effortless. Well done. As others pointed out, you're buying a real game here, no ads or in-app payment schemes. A nice plus in 2018.

I have really been enjoying this game so far. Even before unlocking the Witch Village, I spent hours throwing words at crystals to figure out what they would do. Haha. After that, I unlocked the Witch Village, and a whole new world was opened. I haven't gotten too far in the game yet, but I am satisfied with the depth and pacing of the content so far. Also, the characters and story are cute, and the light theme and atmosphere is done really well. Now to talk about the title of my comment... In the time I spent throwing words at crystals, I realized that switching the language setting to Japanese allows you to use Japanese (technically English written in Katakana, from what I've found) for keywords like "Fire." In general, the Japanese equivalents require fewer characters than their English counterparts, so you can actually put far more effects on a spell with the language set to Japanese! In the end, I don't think it's a major issue, and I still name spells in English most of the time. I find it more comfortable, and it does have its own charm. In any case, I highly encourage anyone playing this game to do their own experimentation. It's really fun! As for complaints, there aren't many. I guess there's that I keep losing the descriptions of items, and I'm not sure why. It's also difficult to tell how many items you have and when you are near full inventory (the number shows pages). Finally, there is no real indication of when you will meet a boss, so it is difficult to prepare beforehand. None of these are critical, but addressing them would certainly make the game a bit more comfortable. Overall, this is still a very solid game with fun systems to experiment and play around with, and I highly recommend it.
