User Reviews

Plant Album is praised for its photo-rich, comprehensive plant cataloging, ability to track care and locations, support for multiple gardens, reminders, and a one-time purchase. It also stands out for letting users build a custom database without depending on a built-in plant database, plus decent cross-device syncing via import/export. Common drawbacks include crashes during data entry, heavy manual data-entry requirements, inability to move a plant to multiple gardens without duplicating logs, limited field customization, and the absence of mapping features and ongoing updates.
Pros
  • Comprehensive plant cataloging with photos, care notes, and location data.
  • Supports multiple gardens/locations for flexible organization.
  • Reminders and schedules for watering and care.
  • Import/export features and cross-device syncing (iPhone/iPad) with a one-time purchase.
  • Allows a custom, user-built database without relying on a built-in plant database.
Cons
  • Stability issues: app crashes when adding information for plants.
  • Heavy manual data-entry without built-in plant references or easy external data lookup.
  • Cannot assign a plant to multiple gardens without duplicating logs.
  • Limited field customization: no dropdowns or renamable fields, and missing desirable data fields.
  • Missing mapping feature and concerns about ongoing updates.

I really like this app. I downloaded it several months ago after trying several other apps. I wanted an app I could keep a record of my plants, photos, plant care, where they are planted, etc. This is not a plant ID app, and there is no subscription to keep your garden info active. Plant Album offers a lite version if you want to try it first, but for a small price it is yours with no limit to all the plants, photos, and info you want to add.

The app keeps crashing every time I try to add information about my first plant. I also hoped for a journal that would help me fill in information I don’t know such as scientific names. It’s going to take forever to fill in the plant information for each species with no ability to reference any databases from the app. I’ve got at least 80 species to catalog. You basically have to create all the databases yourself.

So far I haven’t been able to use it. It’s making me connect to something I don’t understand why.
