Features & Capabilities

APEX Pro (Legacy) is a powerful, cost-effective motorsports data acquisition solution. It pairs standalone hardware with an iOS app and includes a new Lap Timer feature that works without hardware, delivering real-time in-car feedback, precise GPS lap timing, and extensive post-session analytics. The system supports Road Racing, Autocross, Rally, and HPDE, and offers features like Crew View, Top Ten lap posting, GPS overlays, histograms, lap replay, and OBDII data channels for engine diagnostics.

With Lap Timer Plus, drivers can predict laps, split the track into sectors, and compare against their best lap. Video overlays, theoretical best laps, and data-driven goals help you improve, while AirDrop data sharing enables collaboration with other drivers. User Reviews

I do really love the APEX Pro system, but I have to admit that the app is very glitchy on iPad. It routinely crashes when reviewing data. The new app doesn’t even fully function on iPad. I can bring line graphs up, but can’t progress in time since the slider doesn’t load or function on iPad. Works on my iPhone, but the screen is just so much smaller I don’t like to review the data on my phone.

My favorite product for getting faster at the track. I’ve tried other lap timers like Harry’s and Track Addict, as well as AiM Solo and I prefer the Apex Pro. I like Apex Pro because it lets you be as casual or as competitive as you want. You can use the free lap timer and the Crew View feature with friends at a track day. Or buy the video add on for cheap, quick, and easy data overlay for YouTube and review. Or you can dive into the data, but in a way that is much easier and faster to digest between sessions as compared to something cumbersome like an AiM. Lastly, the webinars are a great asset and well worth the cost if you want to learn how to truly interpret the data. The best part is that it’s knowledge you can transfer to any product if you decide to use something else.

On top of making a change that caused the app to crash on launch until I completely deleted and reinstalled it, I’m very disappointed that Apex Pro has decided to go the way of GoPro and require an online account in order for the app to connect to their hardware. This has rendered a device that I’ve happily been using for the last few years effectively unusable. I see no good reason whatsoever for this new requirement: I’ve never used any of the “Crew View” features and never intend to. While I’m here, I will also say that the new UI looks like it was drawn by a four-year-old. A matter of personal preference, I suppose, but I found the old UI to be much cleaner and professional-looking.
