User Reviews

Users praise Gratitude for its simple, cross-device journaling, privacy-focused, ad-free experience, photo-integration, and inspirational quotes. Recurrent concerns are data loss after updates/paywall, the move to paid pricing, persistent photo library prompts, crashes/login problems, and uneven support. Overall, fans find it valuable and impactful, but reliability and pricing changes raise ongoing frustrations.
Pros
  • Simple, clean, and easy-to-use journaling experience.
  • Cross-device support including a Mac version, with seamless use on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
  • Privacy-first, ad-free, and respectful of user data.
  • Ability to attach photos to journal entries and reflect with images.
  • Inspiration and motivation from post-entry quotes and a positive impact on mindset.
Cons
  • Data loss or inability to recover old entries after updates or when switching to the paid model (years of entries disappearing).
  • Shift to paid subscription/not free-for-life, with perceived price increases and access limitations.
  • Frequent prompts/requirements for access to the photo library camera roll when using the app.
  • Occasional crashes and login issues, including errors like 'oops, something went wrong' and being logged out.
  • Mixed or slow support responsiveness reported by some users (e.g., unhelpful or delayed responses).

Looking back at my entries, many with images, I’m flooded with evidence that I have so much to be grateful for! I adore the inspiring pops up quote after I post in this private sanctuary. Thanks Steve Pearson! So grateful for you, your App, and GratefulDay Podcast!

I got this app way, WAAAAYYY back when it was free and used it religiously. Then, one day it changed to a paid version and all my entires were gone! Everyone at Gratitude said you could recover your entries but my account was never recovered and they said they had no record of me having an account. For some reason I’ve still kept the app all these years but have never been able to log in again without starting over with the paid version, and I certainly never got my years of entries back, which is very disappointing. That experience has made me wary of trusting the paid version, so I just never bought it. I wish I had just written it all in a physical journal because it would have been so nice to revisit those memories all these years later.
