User Reviews

Users praise Tablet Command for resource tracking, rapid alerts, and a pocket MDC-like experience with cost benefits. However, multiple reviews cite critical reliability issues: maps/locations failing to load, frequent bugs and crashes, and weak notification behavior (silent bypass and persistence). UI/map integration and login access also hamper use. Overall, strong situational awareness features exist, but core stability and notification delivery require attention.
Pros
  • Resource tracking and visible situational awareness across the team.
  • Pocket MDC-like functionality with fast, responsive incident dispatch.
  • Useful on-duty/off-duty notifications and alert timing.
  • Cost-effective alternative to traditional MDT systems.
  • Quick access to incident information (who/where) enhancing turnout.
Cons
  • Map data/locations often fail to load or show, reducing situational awareness.
  • Frequent bugs and crashes that disrupt core features.
  • Notifications failing to bypass silent mode or lacking persistent alerts.
  • UI and map integration issues: clunky UI and preference for Google Maps not respected (Apple Maps used by default).
  • Login/account setup friction and reliance on web interface for access.

After using this app on multiple platforms (PC, iPad, iPhone and Android) I can say this is the worst dispatching app I’ve used. Calls don’t load, mapping is slow and the location of the pin is absolutely terrible. My department had a fire recently and the pin was in a neighborhood in the exact opposite direction. Not even the right street name and nowhere close to the correct address. My favorite feature is using PulsePoint to bring up the call and the location because TabletCommand won’t load.

Access to incidents can be complicated for subsequent units arriving. The app needs a means to show the route from the main road to the fire. This applies mostly to brush fires. Glow sticks & flagging isn’t sufficient. And engine should be able to record their path of travel (trail of bread crumbs) show their route to the fire or “best access”. The path of travel could be highlighted or dotted until a it is turned off. HUGE OPTION that needs to be developed
