Features & Capabilities

Pinoy Mahjong now runs on the iPhone 13 family, the new iPads, and all Macs on Apple Silicon. This single-player game faithfully implements the Filipino-style mahjong rules used in the Philippines. The app recreates a traditional mahjong table and tiles and supports classic moves such as Draw, Chow, Pong, Kang, as well as advanced plays like Secret, Snag, and Rob the Snag. A HELP button and on-screen tooltips help you learn as you play.

If you’re new to Filipino mahjong, tap HOW TO PLAY for a concise introduction. The game includes a variety of rule variants (13 Flowers, Seven Pairs, Race-to-5-Wins Jackpot) and many scoring options to explore. Tap objects on the screen to reveal information, and use the built-in tutorials to practice strategies before tackling a full game.

User Reviews

Pinoy Mahjong is enjoyable and offline-friendly with a distinct Filipino Mahjong experience, but users frequently cite major flaws like unmuteable audio, overly fast AI, and reliability bugs, plus a demand for multiplayer. Addressing audio controls, stability, and adding social play could significantly improve its appeal.
Pros
  • Fun, addictive Mahjong experience
  • Can be played offline (no internet required)
  • Unique Filipino Mahjong variant appreciated by players
  • Easy to pick up and good for casual or commute play
  • Good for playing with family and friends (social aspect)
Cons
  • No option to mute sound or separate from other apps; voice narration disrupts music
  • AI pacing is too fast and hard to follow
  • Frequent reliability issues like crashes, resets, and lag affecting play
  • Limited multiplayer; players want live or local multiplayer options
  • Some rule/UI quirks and missing tile rearrangement options

I have played over 700 games. The three computer players get way more 7 double and or 1-9 str then possible. I feel I have had a handfull of 7 dbl, 2 1-9’s. Need to see if the algorythm is off.

Pinoy Mahjong App is honestly one of the most frustrating game experiences I’ve had. The feature set feels barebones, but the real problem is the logic—it’s just badly engineered. There were multiple rounds where I clearly had winning hands lined up, only for the game to force me into breaking perfectly good melds and pairs for no reason. It makes zero sense. On top of that, the pacing is ridiculous. The computer players take their turns at lightning speed—like everything just happens instantly—so you can’t even follow what’s going on. It genuinely feels like the AI is just playing among itself while you sit there trying to catch up. Then suddenly it’s your turn and you’re left thinking, “What just happened?” The whole thing feels chaotic, poorly designed, and honestly kind of broken. And to make matters worse, the voice is incredibly annoying. It’s hard to enjoy a game when everything about it feels rushed, confusing, and half-baked.
