Features & Capabilities

There's currently a bug on iOS 11 which causes the text field to hide behind the keyboard when creating new formulas. I'm working on a fix for this.

Vulcanize makes it easy to send beautiful mathematical formulas using iMessage. No longer will you send or recieve unreadable messages that look like "integrate mu_0/(4pi)Idlsin(theta)/r^2 from 0 to 2pi*r"–instead, you'll get a neat, well-rendered formula.

• Write your formulas using LaTeX • View formulas inline with the live preview • Create iMessage stickers with your formulas • Easily access past formulas

This app does work, but you have to type blindly into the input box, which is annoying. Additionally, the use of transparency on the images makes it impossible to read the sent message in dark mode. I feel like neither of these bugs should be too hard to fix, but they are somewhat annoying.

As a mathematician, this app brings me so much joy. That is, it did until it stopped working on my phone. The app has clearly not kept up with new iOS and iPhones. At present I cannot even access the input box in the app. If this issue is fixed I would give Vulcanize 5 stars.
