User Reviews

The reviews are overwhelmingly negative. Most users report the app crashes on launch or won open on iOS (especially after iOS 18), blocking access to Google accounts. Authentication problems are common, including passkey/login failures, issues with QR sign-in, and NFC/YubiKey integration. A small minority say it works as advertised, but overall reliability is poor and users want startup crashes and login issues fixed.
Pros
  • A minority of users report that the app works as advertised.
Cons
  • Crashes or won open on startup, especially after the iOS 18 update.
  • Cannot log in or sign in due to passkey/authentication problems on iOS.
  • QR code sign-in and Google authentication do not reliably work.
  • NFC/YubiKey passkey support does not function correctly on iOS.

When you try to authenticate a Gmail login, it asks you to go to the Smart Lock app to generate a code. But you’re already in Smart Lock trying to log in so you can’t generate a code. Option 2: scan a QR code. Except you’re on your phone trying to log in so you can’t scan that code. I’ve spent more than 2 hours in the past two days trying to log into my work email on my phone (that I magically lost access to. I was signed in since I got that account) because Google decided I need two factor authentication. Right now. I never turned it on and can’t log into my account in Smart Lock to turn it off.
