User Reviews

Infuse is a feature-rich Apple media player praised for broad format support, strong metadata management, and easy NAS/Jellyfin streaming. Reviewers also liked its cross-device use across iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV and its effective Plex/Jellyfin front-end. However, recurring issues include cross-device sync/account problems, metadata scraping inaccuracies, occasional playback failures after updates with slow support, PiP crashes, and cloud-storage/policy frustrations (OneDrive permissions and lack of iCloud library support on Apple TV). Overall, a mature, capable player for local/network libraries that delivers top metadata and playback but has notable reliability and integration drawbacks.
Pros
  • Broad file format support with high-quality, customizable playback.
  • Excellent metadata handling and intuitive library navigation.
  • Strong NAS/server integration and easy streaming from network storage (e.g., TrueNAS, Jellyfin).
  • Solid cross-device performance across iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV within the Apple ecosystem.
  • Well-regarded Plex/Jellyfin front-end with a smooth experience and comprehensive features.
Cons
  • Cross-device syncing and account issues, including Apple ID linked to Jellyfin login, causing access problems across devices.
  • Metadata scraping problems: inaccurate metadata, posters, and difficulty finding titles.
  • Playback failures after updates and generally slow or unresponsive support.
  • Picture-in-Picture/background playback reliability issues (crashes).
  • Cloud storage integration limitations and privacy concerns (OneDrive permissions and lack of iCloud library support on Apple TV).

The iPad version would get 5 stars, but every time I try and watch something using my phone, it’s pure torture. It sometimes takes as long as 10 mins to get it to sync. Then syncing takes 10+ minutes. The plex app syncs in about 20 seconds or so, so this is 100% an infuse issue. The iPad version doesn’t do this for whatever reason.

I’ve really been enjoying Infuse on Apple Vision Pro—it’s easily one of the best apps for watching personal media. The video quality, interface, and playback features are excellent. My one request would be to add an IMAX-style cinema environment. Watching movies on the massive virtual screen is already impressive, but a true IMAX-inspired theater with immersive seating, lighting, and atmosphere would make the experience even more incredible. It would add a real sense of scale and make blockbuster movies feel much closer to a premium cinema experience. I hope the developers consider adding an IMAX-like environment in a future update. It would be a fantastic addition to an already outstanding app.
