User Reviews

Mimo is praised for its fun, beginner-friendly approach to learning coding and for teaching basic concepts. However, users repeatedly complain about a restrictive monetization shift—the key/heart system and paywalls—that throttles progress and leads to costly billing. Learning quality criticisms include insufficient explanations in practice questions. Some report bugs. Overall, it offers solid foundational learning but frustration over pricing and pay-to-learn aspects dominates.
Pros
  • Engaging and fun approach to learning coding; beginner-friendly.
  • Good for learning basic concepts and languages like Python, HTML, and CSS.
  • Helpful for staying motivated and keeping up with school/work.
Cons
  • Key/heart paywall severely throttles daily progress (two keys per day) and removal of hearts; perceived pay-to-win model.
  • Billing and refunds issues: charges after cancellation and trial conversions; high subscription costs.
  • Lack of explanations in practice questions (no feedback on why answers are wrong), hindering learning.
  • Occasional bugs or glitches (e.g., 'Oops something went wrong' errors, white-screen in preview).
Recent reviews
I have had Mimo for about 3 years now and it has been awesome. It teaches you how to write code well. Although in a recent update that changed how they limit your use of it without premium. You used to have hearts and that was good because you would go until you were out of hearts. This was good because if you got all the questions right you could learn as much as you wanted all day. But now you are limited to 2 keys a day so you can only go through 2 lessons a day :( the only upside was it was Easier to review what you have already learned. What would make the keys better was if you could buy keys in the shop like when there was hearts and you could buy a heart refill. Still this app is really good if you just want to learn how to program with your free time.

Mimo is a great app, and it is helping me out a ton with what I want to do as a career, I just wish you can do things like only a certain type of code(I want to learn all so I’m happy for that) or make it easier for people who are new, and I wish it had other coding styles like luau, other then that I would rate it a 5/5
