User Reviews

Life Of Deer is praised for its striking visuals and emotionally rich storytelling, often invoking nostalgia and family bonds. Players enjoy its co-op potential and the deer’s unique life-cycle, but critics point to repetitive quests, technical bugs, and unrealistic animal interactions. Many want more content, gender options, and a longer or happier ending. The title remains memorable for its mood and narrative despite the rough edges.
Pros
  • Beautiful visuals/graphics that enhance the experience.
  • Deep, emotional narrative exploring grief, growth, and a revenge arc.
  • Nostalgia-fueled, memorable moments that encourage replayability.
  • Multiplayer support that lets you play with friends or family, adding a nostalgic co-op dimension.
  • Unique life-cycle gameplay from a deer’s perspective, offering a distinct, story-driven experience.
Cons
  • Repetitive, quest-driven gameplay with limited challenges and a traditional game feel.
  • Frequent technical bugs like black screens/crashes that disrupt progress.
  • Unrealistic animal ecosystem for a deer (presence of lions, leopards, elephants) and other balance realism concerns.
  • Limited player customization; only male deer available and requests for gender options.
  • Ending and overall story length feel short or unsatisfying; many want a longer or happier ending and more content.

This game is beautiful, it maybe janky at times, but it’s to be overlooked when you play the story, spoilers ahead but this game perfectly shows the stages of grief and how it can effect a creature, the horrors this deer goes through when it is but a cub, is heartbreaking, but its revenge ark is perfect, I never thought I would be into this so much, the scene where you have a dream about your parents is one of the most emotional moments in my gaming career and my favorite game is red dead 2, this has an ark that could compare to that, the deers need for strength and revenge is as realistic as it can get. The childhood whimsy to dark adulthood is one of the best switch’s I have ever scene and I will be replaying thank you for making this game.

It's actually a beautiful game at first, but it gets nasty quickly so I don't recommend this to really little kids. Also with the lion part sometimes I get stuck and there's no way to win so I have to uninstall and reinstall the game and start over. And In the first mission, you walk down the pretty flower road to get to your herd but mother deer is sooooooo slow and you can't run ahead because she stops walking if you get too far from her and then you can't finish the mission. So yeah. There's other people playing the game and I can see them because on the map it shows a green star and the green stars are the players. But it's kind of frustrating because I can't talk to them or communicate with them in any way other than jumping. I love this game over all. Even with all its flaws. SPOILER ALERT 🚨🚨🚨⤵️ you die in the end. But at least you get your revenge, on the hyenas and humans... And then that big tiger kills you. I just wish it was a longer story. and maybe a happy ending instead of an anonymous one?
