2023-10-26 BM***** I started using Boomerang Bike in August 2023. Two months in and I’m extremely happy with this product. It’s simple, cheap, elegant, and is a highly effective deterrent. I’ve had to leave my bike in risky locations for stretches of several hours, and so far so good. I had a few issues at first with not being able to turn the alarm on or off, but after reading the manual carefully, I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong (I wasn’t reconnecting to the device from scratch each time I wanted to control it). Since then it’s been plain sailing. The stats on my miles and trips are an added bonus. Overall, this is a great device and app.

2023-08-23 Jo***** I don't recall ever using a mobile app that disallowed a paste into the password field on login. It's especially ironic that this is how the software of a security-focused device was designed. Any security-focused user is going to want to paste a strong password in from a password manager. The security-focused user is not going to want to create a simple password just to use the app and they are definitely not looking to tap out a password full of case-sensitive characters, numbers, and symbols. [disapproving head nods] C'mon.

2021-11-07 Re***** This device is a neat idea but the implementation is terrible. The phone app is not communicating with the GPS unit in real-time — the alarm kept enabled despite it’d clearly said “alarm off” in the app, and there’s no way to force a Bluetooth connection between the app and the GPS unit to shut off the alarm. Connection between the app and the GPS unit is also hit or miss, the app constantly loses connection with the GPS unit even they are literally within a foot. In addition, Boomrang indicates on their website that you can purchase the monthly subscription from the app. This is not the case as you are forced to signup for a annual subscription through PayPal when registering an account to use the device.

I can see where the bike is at all times on a map and if needed the alarm can be activated so that it makes a loud siren sound when someone moves the bike. This is the newer version, V2, and I’ve already seen improvements to the software as they fix bugs. Great product.

2021-08-19 Da***** I love the concept and admire the developers for creating a device to address a serious problem. However the physical product, the registration website and the accompanying app have significant bugs and limitations. I don’t want to be too harsh as I suspect this is a small company with a small development and support team. I truly hope they continue to work on improving and addressing the problems as I’d like this to be a successful product. However “buyer beware”. This is product is essentially in beta and you are paying for the privilege of testing it.

2021-05-26 Dr***** This is the kit you need to keep track of your bike, i have installed them on my entire families bikes. The app is still in heavy devlopment, so expect some changes. I do recomend using a megentic chanrging cable to make life easer.

2021-04-28 Ch***** I wanted so bad to like this system but it is clumsy, hard to use and is not reliable. I am using the most current version of the app and firmware. Here are the issues: It can't find the bike and will sometimes place the bike in a place i haven't been for days. The trip log will sometimes record my trip and dated for the next day. The "trip started and trip stop" commands don't jive with the requested command. It just feels like the app development is under funded and they stopped at "good enough". Here is the bottom line, if my bike gets stolen i can't be sure the " find a bike " is accurate..

2021-04-23 cp***** It’s hard to separate the hardware from the app but I’ll do my best… It’s, as someone else said, primitive. Uninspiring UI coupled with out of alignment text, awkward phrase choices, and slow to update status. I’m hopeful that if the time comes where a bike is stolen that the app will actually function. However, based on communication lag between the app and device, I’m not sold that I will be able to find it before they get it somewhere they can remove the device.
