delete this app genuinely theres no point of it being accessible anymore. its complete slop and doesnt allow the same abilities that the original version of the app had. this is beyond disappointing as someone who literally grew up on the app. just delete it at this point, its not like you guys even update or try to fix issues with it anyways. You ruined possibly the best social interaction network for children to interact and learn about the hobbies that interest.

I barely ever write App Store reviews. But I absolutely, without a doubt, and beyond all reason, must tell you my unsolicited, kind of rude (sorry!) opinion. Your app sucks. Like… bad. Although this is my unwavering opinion, I do have to give you the benefit of the doubt here: I am not a child, I am not your target audience anymore, and I am not new to your app. I am well acquainted with DIY. Or, well, I used to be. I just landed here from a very long and arduous journey to find proof that DIY ever existed. I used to LOVE your app, big time. I loved everything about it. Whether I was engaging in collecting your adorable badges or just admiring the work of others, I was always having a great time. DIY left a lasting impression on me to the point where I just dedicated two hours of my life trying to find the “old app where doing real life tasks earns you badges” or the “old adventure app where you earned scout type badges” or even the “2010s discontinued kids app that earned adventure badges”. Where is that app? Because this sure isn’t it. As soon as I found an old article about you, the signature green background with the DIY bear paw greeted me like an old friend and I was beyond excited (and relieved) that I found you after all these years! I’ve been seriously craving the whimsy and hope for a richer life that your app used to so graciously provide me with. Full transparency, I need to get off this dang phone. I think we ALL need to get off these dang phones. And honestly I’ve been feeling pretty optimistic about it recently. I’ve even started going on some hikes again, which is what reminded me of DIY. I was thinking “hey, I could’ve earned a badge for this on that one app! I wonder whatever happened to that discontinued 2010s app that let you …” you know the deal. Getting off this phone is hard! It’s so hard!!! We need the old DIY now more than ever to help incentivize us to live good lives. In today’s day and age when there’s all this evil instant gratification in everyone’s pocket, an app like the old version of DIY would fill a huge need for us all to, SAY IT WITH ME, get off these dang phones!!! But no… instead you decided to make an app where kids can use their phones to engage in brainrot activities like using AI slop generators, making memes, and creating Minecraft skins! I, again, will give you the benefit of the doubt and say I’m sure a few of your in app features are decent tools for kids to learn with bla bla bla. But the substance, the badges, the creativity, THE WHIMSY, has just been completely drained and forgotten. I can’t help but think that here, in front of you, you have this wonderful chance to do something different and productive, like you used to, that could really help people and be a beautiful thing, but instead you do this. It’s disappointing to say the least. Not to add insult to injury but there are some serious backend issues with this app as well. It’s incredibly glitchy and the UI totally sucks. Half the time when I click on something it just doesn’t even open. Also, the graphics never fit the page right. It’s either too big or too small. Your AppStore description still boasts badges, but where? I’ve searched everything that this glitchy lil guy will let me search and I haven’t seen anything even slightly resembling badges. If it’s there, and I’m missing it after searching and searching, then there’s clearly something wrong here. I wouldn’t pay a one time fee of $1 for this app, let alone $12.99 a month. Now, the old DIY? That’s something I’d pay for. And I mean really, genuinely, pay for. $20 a month, easy. Long story short, I miss the old you. You were beauty. You were grace. You drove me and a bunch of other kids (and adults! Did I mention this should be marketed to adults?) to do better, to be better, to get outside, to build something, to try something new. And if you really tried to expand on that, this app could be one of the most useful, influential apps out there for years to come. I truly believe that. I’m sorry for my harsh words but I do believe I’m right. And, sometimes, the best love is tough love. I love you and miss you DIY. I hope you come back to us someday. Xoxo, Claudia P.S. If you want to brainstorm ideas, I’m your woman. If you couldn’t tell, I have lots of them and I’m more than happy to share.
