User Reviews

TBScan is praised as a fast, time-saving tool for geocachers, especially at events, thanks to quick scanning and bulk logging. Users love bulk-logging and ease of use, with many upgrading to premium for more than five logs. Common drawbacks are the five-scan limit on the free version, OCR misreads of codes, and occasional reliability/login issues. Overall, it’s a highly valued app for speed and efficiency when it functions properly.
Pros
  • Very fast scanning and bulk logging, saving time at events.
  • Ability to log multiple trackables at once, especially useful at events and TB hotels.
  • Easy-to-use interface with intuitive scanning and logging.
  • Great value when upgrading to premium to log more than five at a time.
  • Widely valued by geocachers and highly recommended for Megas and GeoBash.
Cons
  • Free version limits scanning to 5 at a time, encouraging upgrade.
  • OCR/character recognition can misread codes, especially when images aren’t flat or codes are angled.
  • Occasional reliability issues (crashes on some devices; log errors like TB not existing).
  • Some login/integration issues with Geocaching.com reported by users.

It’s good, wish you didn’t have to pay for most of the features.

I still remember the days where you would attend events, write down 200+ discover codes, and then discover them all at home, taking hours of time. Luckily TBScan makes that a thing of the past and can scan a trackable code in about 3 seconds. I also appreciate the feature where you can discover multiple at a time and bulk log them. This makes trackable discovery much easier at events, and makes me more enthusiastic to discover TBs.
