User Reviews

Reviews repeatedly cite AI clutter and inability to disable it, plus persistent banners and ads that clutter the UI. Scheduling and automation often break after updates, and devices frequently show offline or fail to stay connected. Users with long-standing setups note the app once worked reliably, but recent updates degrade the experience for many. The core pros center on broad device support and remote control, but these are overshadowed by the recurring delivery of poor UX and reliability issues.
Pros
  • Broad device compatibility (the app supports control of many devices across brands such as lights, AC units, door locks, and life alerts).
  • Some users report long-term reliability for years with their setup.
  • Offers remote control and basic automation features (schedules/scenes) for managing devices.
Cons
  • intrusive AI features (Hey Tuya) clutter the home screen and cannot be turned off or hidden, with some users noting a subscription is required to access all features.
  • UI clutter and marketing banners/ads appear frequently, including energy-saving prompts, which disrupt navigation and basic controls.
  • Scheduling/automation often stops working after updates (no schedules functioning, delays ignored, sequences may bypass timers).
  • Device connectivity issues persist (lights/devices frequently appear offline or fail to stay online, complicating remote control).
  • Frequent updates bring layout changes and remove/ hide legacy views, making the app harder to use for existing users.

This bug was originally fixed in v5.14.2 but has since returned after an app facelift. Previously we could rearrange the order of devices displayed on the Watch by rearranging their order on the SmartLife app HOME page. You’d press & hold a device and slide it up or down to rearrange its position in the SmartLife app and it would update on the Watch afterwards. But now that the SmartLife HOME page has been changed to resizable widgets, it no longer updates the order on the Watch. Please fix this! —————————————————— Previous Reviews: v5.14.2 - Adjust display order for Watch - Fixed! Thank-You! This bug 🐜 (described below) has finally been fixed! Device order on Watch now follows the order you set on the SmartHone App Homepage instead of the App’s Apple Watch Add Device page. —- (Confirmed on iPhone iOS v17.5.1 Watch OS v10.5) ==> New Bug introduced in v5.12.0 iOS update still present in v5.12.1 and v5.12.2 and v5.13 and v5.14 and v5.14.1 (Cannot reorder Devices under “Me/Apple Watch/Device”) ==> The following (SmartLife App) instructions don’t work (after adjusting display order, app reverts to previous order) : ==> 1) Open the Smart Life app on your iPhone. 2) Tap **Me** > **Watch** > **Device** or **Available Scene**. Select devices or scenarios to display on the Apple Watch and adjust their display order. 3) Tap Save. A notification is sent to your Apple Watch to synchronize the data ==> Does not Save new display order

Font sizes are not dynamic , very small and very dim. Very hard to see. The power monitor calculations of plugs are wrong and confusing.
