User Reviews

Users consistently praise Doc OCR for fast, high-quality local scans—especially of books with curved pages—and its easy, reliable daily use. The app is noted as a strong substitute for a scanner and supports convenient sharing/export to PDFs, email, cloud services, and business tools like Concur. However, several recurring issues temper enthusiasm: email/export reliability after updates (delays, deliveries failing, spam filtering), pricing confusion and gating of features behind premium plans, and editing tools that don’t always work (auto-rotation/deskew and de-warp) or are unclear in what is included. These cons affect workflow despite strong core scanning performance.
Pros
  • High-quality scans with fast local processing (not cloud/AI), especially effective for books.
  • Easy to use and reliable for daily personal and professional document capture.
  • Effective for scanning curved pages and books, making it a handy substitute for a physical scanner.
  • Versatile sharing/export options to PDFs, email, cloud services, and business tools like Concur.
Cons
  • Email/export reliability issues after updates: delays, failed deliveries, and emails getting filtered as spam.
  • Pricing confusion and gating of features behind premium plans, with upgrades not consistently fixing issues.
  • Editing tools like auto-rotation/deskew and de-warp sometimes don’t work or are unclear, requiring manual steps.
  • Faxing can be expensive and some sharing/workflow changes limit easy export to laptop.

I’ve been using this app for years! It has gotten better over time! It works as intended!

This is a great app. I’ve used it for years. However, sometimes there are long delays between when I send a scanned document by the email feature and when it is received. Also, the sender information is stance. So it is likely to be overlooked, ignored or filtered into the spam folder which is problematic when trying to handle documents quickly and professionally.

Unlike those programs that depend on AI too much, this program does the image processing locally, and the algorithms are great. As a result, this app is much faster than others when I scan a book.
