User Reviews

Users praise Slumber for aiding sleep with soothing narration and a rich, evolving library of stories, meditations, and sounds. The app’s strengths include calming voices, narrator options, and strong usability/features. Main drawbacks are cost, occasional feature bugs (e.g., background sounds), and dislike of some narrators/accents. Overall, it’s a solid sleep aid with broad content, tempered by price and occasional quality issues.
Pros
  • Helps users fall asleep and manage insomnia (and can aid with chronic pain)
  • Soothing, mellow narrators with a wide range of voice options (male/female)
  • Large, varied, and regularly updated content library (stories, meditations, sounds)
  • Good usability and personalization features (narrator choices, night-time viewing without glasses, seasonal updates)
  • Some content accessible without a subscription (pleasant for non-subscribers)
Cons
  • Cost and affordability concerns due to the subscription model
  • Background noises sometimes don’t work or cut off when using music
  • Some narrators/accents are difficult to listen to (e.g., certain voice issues)
  • Offline/non-wifi usability limitations or instability mentioned by users
  • Desire for more content/variety beyond what is available with paid options

I’ve liked slumber a lot, especially Dan Jones. Now you need to change the name to the Thomas channel. I do like the music though.

My favorite story involves something I typically get excited about. In daily life, I’ll go to a yarn store and bounce with excitement looking at all the tools, skeins of yarn, and potential projects. I was torn when I saw Slumber had an episode where someone spends a day in a Knitting Shop. There’s no way, I thought, to get sleep from something so exciting. I know someone walks into the shop. I remember something about different kinds of yarn. That’s it. I’m always asleep before I reach the end. I don’t know how Slumber did it. It’s NOT boring. It’s…pleasant. It’s nice. And I can’t stay awake. To be fair, I haven’t tried. I think it stimulates my excitement in a way where I start to dream about the possibilities but does not make me want to get up to start crafting. The result is a clear mind the next day. My energy has picked up and I don’t struggle to get out of bed as much.
