User Reviews

Overall, what's inside the box? is praised for its clever, logical puzzles and a large, varied 100-level collection that provides long-lasting brain-teasing fun. Players enjoy the challenging yet solvable designs and the satisfying sense of achievement. However, several reviews point to frustratingly hard levels (especially level 43), occasionally vague hints, and some repetition between levels. The game shines for puzzle lovers, though a few usability hitches and very tough spots may frustrate casual players.
Pros
  • Clever, logical puzzles that are highly satisfying to solve.
  • Large, varied set of 100 unique levels providing long-lasting play.
  • Strong brain-teaser appeal with a good balance of challenge.
  • Creative puzzle designs and consistent quality across levels.
Cons
  • Some levels are extremely hard and frustrating, notably level 43.
  • Hints can be vague or unhelpful on difficult levels.
  • A few levels feel repetitive or not as enjoyable as others.

Absolutely delightful puzzle game, but this level… this god forsaken level is absolutely strenuous. (⚠️Spoilers if you haven’t gotten to this level by the way⚠️) ……………………………………………………………………………………………………. As much as I do enjoy sliding puzzles, having TWO layers of said sliding puzzles is too much. Not only is it tedious to have to move the tiles on the top layer out of the way to see what you are doing, but you can only see through that measly little single gap, like some hellish version of tunnel vision, which makes strategizing and planning extremely difficult if not almost impossible. When you think you’ve completed the lower layer, you realize that you have completely scrambled the other half that you had already completed. I can hear it laugh at me. I just want to yank out that wretched top layer like ripping off a blindfold. Not to mention how utterly useless the hints for this level are. Obviously it’s a sliding puzzle; obviously it has two layers; obviously you need to solve it. It’s so simple, yet so confounding. I now know how Sisyphus must have felt. What layer of Tartarus did this level crawl out of to end up in a humble mobile game?

Bart Bonte was making varying logic puzzles years before they caught on, and this is an excellent example of his earlier work. The user rating on this game doesn’t accurately represent the high quality of this game or the big influence his work has had on other developers.

excellent puzzle game. the right level of difficulty to make it challenging and clever but not frustrating.
