Home Assistant is amazing! Yes, it may currently be more suitable to tinkered and those that want to customize everything, rather than having a slick boilerplate GUI—but, you can do so much more with HA than with anything else out there. And almost universally compatible. You can get away without the app, but it adds a couple of nice features.

Latest update broke all my shortcuts and the replacement actions they want me to use just open the app and don’t do the thing they’re supposed to do. I updated everything and it’s still broken. It’s hard to rely on home assistant when they keep breaking things.
