User Reviews

Users say ShotSpotter can be useful for gunshot alerts when it works, but it is restricted to law enforcement and often unusable for civilians due to sign-up and login problems. Additional frequent issues include duplicate alerts after updates, audio playback failures, and generally slow, buggy performance, which undermines reliability.
Pros
  • When the app is functioning, it provides gunshot alerts with audio notifications.
  • Initial use reports indicate reliable notifications and audio for a period.
  • It can alert users to gunshots in their area when it works.
Cons
  • Access is restricted to law enforcement; civilians cannot sign up.
  • No sign-up path for regular users and login/credential issues prevent access.
  • Alerts can be duplicated after updates, causing confusion or misresponse.
  • Audio playback can fail or stop working after a period of use.
  • Overall performance is slow and buggy with a less user-friendly interface.

I was recently trying locate a ShotSpotter address that I received notification for. Once I opened the app, it kept prompting me to logon. My credentials weren’t verified or correct. HOW SO? Nothing has changed on my end. The app is great when it works or if you can get on. Why keep getting notifications as if I’m logged in, but can’t actually login? Please fix this

I downloaded the app and for the first week zero issues with notifications and audio. Within a few weeks I received notifications, but could no longer play and hear audio. Deleting and redownloading the app has not fixed the issue. No signs of any improvement. Unsure if I’m the only one experiencing this inconvenience.
