User Reviews

Users praise Tally for its ease of use, colorfully designed calendar UI, and versatility for tracking habits, medications, and expenses. However, multiple reviews converge on several frustrations: the free tier restricts items and prices for the paid plans are high; there is no undo/edit capability for tallies; subscription and billing issues with support; data export is missing; and software bugs affect reliability.
Pros
  • Easy to use and intuitive interface.
  • Helpful for staying consistent with micro-habits.
  • Colorful UI with calendar features and appealing graphics.
  • Versatile for tracking different things (habits, medications, spending).
  • Easy to add, remove, and customize what to track.
Cons
  • Free version limits to 3 items; premium is expensive and viewed as a bait-and-switch by some reviewers.
  • No undo/edit functionality for tallies; accidental taps can skew data.
  • Billing and subscription issues, including failed restorations and unresponsive support.
  • Data export/CSV feature missing or removed; portability limited.
  • Bugs and instability (freezes, lagging, crashes) affecting reliability.

There’s no way to try before you buy. I wanted to see how this worked on the Apple Watch to see how easy it might be, but I can’t try it out so I will not buy.

I paid for this app with the intention to track things and occasionally export the data. At one point, maybe 1-2 years ago, I was able to export to Dropbox. Now the “Link to Dropbox” option is still there but it doesn’t do anything, it registers a tap but nothing happens. I have Dropbox installed and am logged in. Backing up to iCloud doesn’t actually give you a file you can use. Now I’m faced with the tedious task of having to manually input everything I’ve been tracking into a spreadsheet. As soon as I do I’ll be ditching this app for good.

You can only track 3 things until they make you pay. And there is no way to reset the tally if you accidentally marked it too many times, at least not on the free version.
